Humanist Ceremonies at Thistle Ceremonies

YOUR LIFE. YOUR STORY. YOUR WAY.

Thistle Ceremonies Trading Ltd offer bespoke ceremonies with a range of humanist celebrants who are committed to providing you with a personal and unique experience of the ceremony of your choice.

  • Wedding Ceremonies
  • Naming and Renaming Ceremonies
  • Renewal of Vows
  • Funerals
  • Special Birthday Ceremonies
  • Retirement Ceremonies

We are a small organisation with staff specially selected to ensure that whatever Ceremony you want, you will be supported through the entire process from meeting up (virtually or in person depending on your preference and location), to having a script specially written for you. The script will be emailed to you beforehand to ensure that it says everything you would wish for your ceremony. On the day you will receive full support from your humanist celebrant before, during and after the service.

We offer:

  • A Ceremony tailored specifically to your wishes
  • An online/telephone booking system
  • A humanist celebrant of your choice
  • The knowledge that you are supporting a non profit organisation
  • Any additional organisational funds will go to our charity Thistle Ceremonies SCIO providing free funerals for those in need.

OUR PROCESS

Ceremony Step 1 Thistle Ceremonies

STEP 1

We meet with you to not only get to know what you require for your ceremony, but to also understand your and your loved ones story. It's also a chance for you to understand and vet us too!

Ceremony Step 2 Thistle Ceremonies

STEP 2

We take your story, your love and construct it in to a script which reflects your wishes. Before providing you with the final first draft, each script is vetted by our panel to ensure quality is maintained.

Ceremony Step 3 Thistle Ceremonies

STEP 3

This is a chance for you to review our work. We understand that thoughts and feelings can change over time, so it is still possible to make amendments up to 24 hours before the ceremony.

Ceremony Step 4 Thistle Ceremonies

STEP 4

The ceremony. At this point we communicate your thoughts, your life and your story - your way. Whether a happy or sad occasion, the ceremony will reflect your wishes.

BILLY WARD

Based in Angus, after 37 years in Mallaig and Fort William. As a celebrant since 2016 I have found it to be enjoyable and fulfilling. Happy to travel anywhere in Scotland to conduct services.

CONSTANCE BARTLEY

HUMANIST CELEBRANT AND CO FOUNDER

MARK WRIGHT

MS GLOBAL ADMIN AND CO FOUNDER

It has been such an honour to put my technical skills to use for the Thistle family, and being the MS Global Administrator is a great privilege!

Being a co founder of the Thistle family has been an incredible journey!

ANNE SKELTON

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

I first became interested in becoming a celebrant when someone else wrote my dad’s funeral eulogy and it sounded nothing like my dad, that was the moment I knew I had a role to fulfil. And I love it!

ALEXIS MCKENZIE

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

I worked in financial services for 16 years but always craved something more meaningful in my life. After the sudden death of a family member, I was asked if I would write and deliver the funeral. It was at this point, I realised my calling was to become a Celebrant.

CAROL O'ROURKE

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

Outside of my role as Humanist Celebrant and new member of the Thistle Family, I have two gorgeous children, a wonderful husband and I enjoy reading, health and healing, yoga, travel, cold water dipping (in the North Sea!) and creative writing.

FELICITY GORDON

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

I just love, love, in all its forms. It’s a beautiful thing that means and materialises in different ways for every person. We are all completely unique and it’s something that I enjoy about humanist ceremonies, this uniqueness can be celebrated in both life and death.

GILLIAN STIRLING

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

Love is at the centre of everything and will certainly be at the heart of your ceremony. With a healthy dose of romance, some light-hearted fun and laughter, I will tell your story, your way.

JANINE RYAN

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

Whether you dream of a ceremony on top of a mountain, in your garden, or in that most special of special places, I will be committed to making it the best it can possibly be.

JEAN STEELE

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

I was a teacher and enjoyed working in a support role for over 30 years supporting families whose children have additional needs.

I’ll guide you through all the possibilities as to how to personalise and create the ceremony you have always dreamed of.

LUCY BLACK

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

I became a humanist celebrant back in 2017, having worked in medical and customer service led roles. I run a domestic ironing business which was established back in 2014 but my passion is definitely people!

MEL GLASSWELL

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

I first became interested in Humanism some 20 years ago when I co-wrote my son’s Humanist naming ceremony. It was a beautiful experience and a wonderful way to welcome him into the world.

TEGAN ELDER

HUMANIST CELEBRANT

My background is working with children and families. I adore spending time with my own family and friends!

It is always an honour to be asked to bring families together as it is a privilege to be part of huge milestones in people’s life and can support them to create bespoke ceremonies.
